It's Funny How Places Feel Different as Life Changes

I first stayed at Vivere Hotel years ago, long before I became a mom.

Back then, I appreciated it for what most young professionals probably would—a comfortable room, a convenient location, and a relaxing escape from the usual routine. It was a pleasant stay, but I never imagined I'd one day return with my own family.

Life has a funny way of bringing you back to familiar places at exactly the right time.

This visit wasn't about checking another destination off our list. It wasn't about filling every hour with activities either.

It was about slowing down.

With Zoey now joining us on our adventures, we've become much more intentional about the places we choose to stay. We still appreciate beautiful hotels, but these days, we value something else just as much: comfort, convenience, and spaces that allow us to simply enjoy being together.

For Zed, this stay held a different kind of meaning.

Having grown up in the South, Alabang has always been familiar territory for him. Festival Mall, Alabang Town Center, Filinvest were places he'd visited countless times. Yet despite driving past Vivere for years, he'd never actually stayed there.

It's funny how we sometimes travel halfway around the world looking for new experiences, only to realize there are places close to home we've never truly experienced.

This weekend reminded us of exactly that.

A Weekend That Let Us Slow Down

One of the things we loved most about Vivere Hotel was how naturally our weekend unfolded.

We checked in on a Friday afternoon with no pressure to maximize every hour… something that rarely happens these days.

Instead, we simply enjoyed the hotel. The elegant lobby, the room’s big open layout, and oh yes… the big and firm king bed!

After dinner that evening, we booked an in-room massage and spent the rest of the night unwinding in the comfort of our suite. It was the perfect way to leave work behind and ease into the weekend.

Saturday was intentionally slower. We slipped away for a wellness session at a friend's nearby wellness center while my mom and sister enjoyed a relaxed afternoon bonding with Zoey together at the hotel. Knowing everything was just a few minutes away made it easy to enjoy a little time for myself without feeling like we were sacrificing family time.

By Sunday morning, we'd fully settled into vacation mode.

Before breakfast, Zed and I managed to sneak in a refreshing four-kilometer run around the nearby park while the city was still waking up. After checking out, we met up with family for a leisurely lunch at Alabang Town Center before finally heading home.

Looking back, it wasn't a weekend packed with activities. It was simply a weekend that gave us room to breathe. And sometimes, that's exactly just the kind of getaway you need.

A One-Bedroom Penthouse That Truly Understands Family Travel

Traveling with a baby changes the way you judge hotel rooms.

You stop noticing whether the furniture is trendy and start paying attention to the things that actually make life easier.

Is there enough room to move around? Can we prepare bottles comfortably? Will we all still be comfortable after two nights?

The moment we stepped into Vivere's One-Bedroom Penthouse, we knew this wasn't just a larger hotel room.

It felt like a home.

The soaring ceilings immediately made the suite feel bright and airy, while the separate receiving area meant we could relax without being confined to the bedroom. The kitchenette quickly became one of our favorite features, making bottle preparation and snack time effortless.

When we walked into the bedroom, Zoey's crib had already been prepared.

It may seem like a small detail, but to parents, those thoughtful touches speak volumes.

Another feature we loved was the additional room with a daybed. It's perfect for families traveling with a grandparent, guardian, or yaya, giving everyone their own comfortable space while still enjoying the privacy of a suite.

What impressed us most, though, wasn't just how spacious the penthouse was.

It was how intentional every part of it felt.

Each area had its own television, table, and storage. Nothing felt like empty space added just to make the suite appear bigger. Every corner had a purpose, making it incredibly functional whether you're staying for a weekend or an extended trip.

By our second day, it no longer felt like we were staying in a hotel. It genuinely felt like home.

Three Meals, Three Completely Different Experiences at The Nest

One of Vivere Hotel's biggest highlights is undoubtedly The Nest.

What surprised us most wasn't just how good the food was. It was how the restaurant transformed throughout the day.

It felt like three completely different dining experiences in one place.

Breakfast: Slow Mornings Above the Skyline

Breakfast quickly became our favorite ritual.

Perched on the 31st floor, The Nest offers sweeping views of the southern skyline, making even a simple cup of coffee feel special.

The buffet isn't enormous, and honestly, we appreciated that.

Instead of offering countless dishes, it focuses on doing the essentials exceptionally well.

The selection struck the perfect balance between Filipino favorites and international breakfast classics. Fresh pastries, tropical fruits, made-to-order eggs, cereals, breads, salads, and hot dishes offered enough variety without feeling overwhelming.

The quality of the food stood out immediately. Everything tasted fresh. Everything was flavorful.

My personal favorite was the comforting congee, while Zed couldn't get enough of the crispy fried danggit. Those simple dishes somehow became the ones we kept going back for.

It's the kind of breakfast where you naturally pour one more cup of coffee, linger over conversation, and lose track of time because the view is simply too beautiful to rush.

Lunch: A Space That Encourages Conversation

By lunchtime, The Nest takes on an entirely different energy.

Natural light fills the restaurant, creating a bright yet refined atmosphere that feels equally suited for catching up with friends or entertaining clients over a business lunch.

The menu continues the same philosophy we experienced at breakfast—excellent ingredients, balanced flavors, generous portions, and enough variety to satisfy different palates.

Every dish we tried was beautifully presented and genuinely delicious.

It was one of those meals where no one rushed to leave the table.

Dinner: Where the Skyline Becomes Part of the Meal

As evening arrives, The Nest transforms once again.

The city lights slowly begin to sparkle, conversations become softer, and the restaurant effortlessly becomes one of Alabang's most romantic dining destinations (thanks to the candlelit atmosphere paired with live lounge music). 

Whether you're celebrating an anniversary, enjoying cocktails after work, or simply ending the day with someone you love, the atmosphere feels elegant without trying too hard.

Few restaurants manage to feel equally welcoming for families at breakfast, professionals at lunch, and couples at dinner. The Nest somehow does all three beautifully.

Hospitality You Can Feel

Beautiful hotels are easy to remember.

Warm people are much harder to forget.

Throughout our stay, everyone we met made us feel genuinely welcomed.

At The Nest, Dean, Lester, and Anika looked after us so well throughout our meals, always checking in with genuine warmth and making sure we had everything we needed.

Even our visit to the gym became memorable thanks to the resident training coach, who warmly welcomed us and happily shared a few fitness tips during our workout.

It's these moments of sincere hospitality that stay with you long after you've forgotten thread counts and room sizes.

So, Is Vivere Hotel Worth It?

If you're wondering whether Vivere Hotel is the right fit for your next staycation, here's our honest take.

For families with young children? Without a doubt. The spacious suites, prepared crib, kitchenette, practical layout, and relaxed atmosphere make traveling with little ones significantly easier.

For couples? Absolutely. Between the elegant accommodations and the romantic setting of The Nest after sunset, it's perfect for anniversaries, birthdays, or simply reconnecting over a weekend away.

For business travelers? Definitely. Its location in the heart of Alabang, generously sized rooms, and The Nest's excellent lunch setting make it ideal for both work trips and extended stays.

Is the location convenient? Extremely. Whether you're meeting friends, grabbing lunch at Alabang Town Center after checkout, heading to a wellness appointment, or simply going for a morning run, everything feels within easy reach.

Is the One-Bedroom Penthouse worth upgrading to? We genuinely think so. The additional living space, thoughtful layout, kitchenette, and second room make a noticeable difference, especially for families.

Should you include breakfast? Absolutely. Between the quality of the food, the well-balanced variety, and one of the best skyline views in the South, breakfast at The Nest became one of our favorite memories from the weekend.

Sometimes, Rest Looks Different Now

Before Zoey, weekends away usually meant squeezing in one more café, chasing another sunset, or trying to see as much as we possibly could before heading home.

These days, rest looks different.

It's watching your little one happily play while you enjoy your morning coffee.

It's having enough room to spread out instead of constantly reorganizing baby bags.

It's lingering over breakfast because no one is in a hurry.

It's realizing that the best part of the weekend wasn't doing more. It was finally slowing down together.

Parenthood has changed the way we travel, indeed.

Yes, traveling with a baby means bringing more things, planning around naps, and embracing a slower pace. But when you find a place that's thoughtfully designed for families and surrounded by conveniences that make life easier, those little challenges begin to fade into the background.

Vivere Hotel reminded us that family travel doesn't have to be exhausting.

It can actually become a chance to rest.

A chance to reconnect after weeks of deadlines, meetings, sleepless nights, and the beautiful chaos that comes with raising a little one.

Sometimes, the best escape isn't the one that's farthest away.

It's the one that allows you to come home feeling lighter than when you arrived.

For our little family, that's exactly what this weekend at Vivere gave us.
