Did you know that Busuanga is home to some of the best wreck diving spots in the world? Beyond its clear blue waters and stunning limestone cliffs, this island in Palawan hides a fascinating history beneath the waves—sunken Japanese warships from World War II! But on our recent trip, Zed and I weren’t diving into history; we were diving into a weekend of sailing, relaxation, and an unexpected romantic surprise at Busuanga Bay Lodge for the BPI Signature Yacht Race Series.

A Warm Welcome to Paradise
If you’re wondering where to stay near Coron for a luxurious yet laid-back escape, Busuanga Bay Lodge is a top choice. Located in Busuanga, Palawan, about an hour’s drive from Coron town, this stunning boutique resort offers a serene retreat away from the crowds.
Upon arrival, we were instantly greeted with a heartfelt welcome song, a refreshing cucumber champagne drink and a traditional banana leaf necklace—all instant mood-setters for the weeklong island-life ahead. The open-air lobby, with its panoramic view of the infinity pool seamlessly blending into the bay, was nothing short of breathtaking.
Luxurious Accommodations with Stunning Views
Our Bayview Bungalow room was an oasis of comfort, complete with a plush bed, lots of cabinet space, and a spacious walk in bathroom.

The best part? The very IG worthy and romantic private balcony overlooking the bay. It was actually big enough for me to practice our daily meditation in and my quick yoga sessions in between.
Floor-to-ceiling windows flooded the space with natural light, and the en-suite bathroom, with its rainfall shower and premium toiletries, added a spa-like touch.
Culinary Delights and a Romantic Surprise
The Pavilion restaurant was a gastronomic treat, serving up delicious breakfast spreads including our favorite Lamayo and Corned Beef plates and the succulent Honey Seared Salmon for lunch.
However, we didn’t get the chance to dine at Seahorse Bar & Grill, which was a slight disappointment—until fate had other plans. While walking by, I stumbled upon a beautiful surprise: a romantic beachfront dinner setup for a marriage proposal! Watching that heartfelt moment unfold under the starlit sky turned my missed dinner into a memory I’ll cherish forever.
Immersed in the Yacht Race Excitement
Of course, the highlight of my trip was the BPI Signature Yacht Race Series, an event that perfectly blended the thrill of sailing with a strong commitment to sustainability.

Seeing seasoned sailors navigate the breathtaking waters of Busuanga, all while promoting marine conservation, made the experience even more meaningful. The camaraderie among the participants and guests created a lively yet welcoming atmosphere, making me feel like part of the sailing community.
Making the Most of Busuanga Bay Lodge’s Amenities
While the sailors were out competing in the two days of inshore races, I took the opportunity to fully enjoy the resort. I kayaked around the calm waters of the bay, took a refreshing dip in the Instagram-worthy infinity pool, and even squeezed in some work between activities at their cozy lounge area. It took me about a full hour to kayak around the bay but you might want to go longer so you can visit the plane wreck at the opposite side of the bay.
Whether you’re looking for adventure or a peaceful retreat, Busuanga Bay Lodge offers the perfect balance.
A Commitment to Sustainability
What truly stood out during my stay was the lodge’s dedication to sustainable tourism. From promoting eco-friendly water sports to supporting local communities, Busuanga Bay Lodge aligns seamlessly with the ethos of the BPI Signature Yacht Race Series, proving that luxury and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
