The BPI Private Wealth Signature Yacht Race Series 2025 reached its thrilling conclusion in Subic Bay, where the final and most decisive leg—the BPI Subic Regatta—saw Team Belatrix, skippered by Jun Villanueva, emerge victorious. Hosted by Subic Sailing and Lighthouse Marina Resort, the event was a spectacular showcase of high-stakes racing, maritime heritage, and a strong commitment to sustainability.

The race series began with Corregidor, then navigated through Busuanga and the grueling offshore challenge of Boracay 200, but Subic was where the battle for the overall championship was ultimately decided. With shifting winds and strong currents, every maneuver and every second counted in this final showdown.

The Battle for the Trophy

The competition was fierce across all classes, but in the IRC Class, it was Belatrix that secured the coveted Perpetual Trophy. Karakoa, skippered by Francis Ordoveza, and Centennial II, led by Martin Tanco, rounded out the podium in an electrifying finish.

In the Cruising Class, the duo of Anthony Evangelista and John Quirk aboard Allusive claimed first place, followed by Alleanda Racing and Papaya. Meanwhile, the Ocean Multihull Class saw Maëlie, skippered by Romain Barberis, take top honors, with Ikapati securing second.

More Than a Race: A Celebration of Sustainability

Beyond the thrilling competition, Subic Bay became a hub for sustainability advocacy, with the BPI Subic Regatta Sustainability Talks taking center stage. Hosted at Lighthouse Marina Resort, these discussions brought together marine conservationists, sustainable tourism advocates, and environmental leaders to tackle issues such as ocean pollution, responsible sailing, and the fight against plastic waste.

A special highlight was the arrival of the Balangay, helmed by Art Valdez, a living symbol of the Philippines' rich maritime heritage. Seeing this ancient vessel sail alongside high-performance racing yachts was a powerful reminder that the future of sailing must honor both tradition and environmental responsibility.

To further solidify the event’s commitment to ocean stewardship, the Lighthouse Legacy Foundation, in partnership with MVCI, spearheaded a Tidy up The Tides coastal cleanup, reinforcing the message that protecting our waters is just as important as competing on them.

Looking to the Horizon for Philippine Sailing

With the BPI Subic Regatta closing the season on a high note, the BPI Private Wealth Signature Yacht Race Series 2025 has cemented itself as a premier event—not just for sailing, but for sustainability as well.

As the sun set on Subic Bay, one thing became clear: this was more than a race. It was a movement. A call to action for sailors, advocates, and ocean lovers to work together in preserving our seas.

See you next season on the water!
